WINE & DINE
September 28, 2016
Nothing better than a bit of Italy in London. Got lost and stumbled across a genuine Italian food and wine market in Elephant & Castle (you can tell it’s genuine as it’s full of Italian customers).
Opened in an old paper factory in south London, Mercato Metropolitano is made up by food halls beneath iron roof and has an outside eating area.
Think focaccia, gelato, golden espresso, prosciutto, wheels of parmesan cheese, lasagne, pizza, and rows of Tuscany wines.
What to eat:
Ask for a mixed platter of Italian cured hams and varied selection of cheese.
What to drink:
Delicious red wines from the Chianti region.
Location: 42 Newington Causeway, London SE1 6DR.
